Priya’s 6-year-old son opposes plea by Karisma’s kids

Sunjay Kapoor's Rs 30,000 crore will: Priya Kapur's 6-year-old son opposes plea by Karisma Kapoor's children; claims case based on 'speculation and guesswork'

The legal drama over the Rs 30,000 crore estate of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur, intensified on Friday, with his 6-year-old son of his wife, Priya Kapur, opposing a plea filed by actor Karisma Kapoor’s children challenging the will’s authenticity. Appearing before Justice Jyoti Singh, senior advocate Akhil Sibal, representing the minor boy, argued that the challenge brought by Samaira Kapur and her minor brother, was just “speculation and guesswork.”

New twist in Sunjay Kapur will case

The counsel for the minor, alleged that there was no delay in presenting the will to the family. As reported by PTI, Senior advocate Akhil Sibal said,

‘Denied will copy for refusing to sign NDA’

Sibal said that after the July 30 meeting, there was not a single communication from the side of the plaintiffs – Kapoor’s daughter Samaira Kapur and minor son – asking for a copy of the will.On August 22, the first communication was made to the executor asking for a copy of the will, he said.Following this meeting, Sibal noted, Karisma Kapoor’s children made no request for a copy of the will until August 22. Meanwhile, their mother, Karisma, continued to communicate with Priya Kapur regarding completion of paperwork. He argued that the plaintiffs were denied a copy only because they refused to sign a confidentiality agreement. “They are excluded, and they know the legal strategy is to challenge the will, whether the will is genuine or not, they must challenge,” he argued. He said the plaintiffs could have filed the suit, saying that there is something suspicious about the will, which is why no copy was provided to them. “But they knew they were excluded, so they had to challenge it (will) come what may”.

No rift in family before Sunjay’s demise

Sibal also claimed there was no familial rift during Sunjay’s lifetime and that all parties shared cordial relations. The submission came a day after Priya Kapur told the court that it was a “healthy tradition” for a husband to leave his assets to his wife, while rejecting the allegation that the will surfaced under suspicious circumstances. The court, has listed the matter for next week for further arguments. The court is also hearing arguments on an interim injunction application filed by Karisma Kapoor’s children to restrain Priya Kapur from alienating them from Sunjay Kapur’s assets. The children have questioned the authenticity of the purported will.Sunjay Kapur passed away on June 12, after collapsing during a polo match in England. He reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest. Go to Source
