I was petrified says Meezaan about calling Ajay Devgn an uncle

'I was petrified': Meezaan Jafri reveals Ajay Devgn allowed him to call him 'Uncle' and 'Tharki Buddha' in 'De De Pyaar De 2'

Meezaan Jafri revealed his surprising experience working with Ajay Devgn on ‘De De Pyaar De 2’. He shared how the superstar’s immense confidence and humility allowed him to address Ajay as ‘Uncle’ and even use playful nicknames, a testament to Devgn’s secure and script-focused approach. This openness made for a significant learning experience for Meezaan.

Meezaan Jafri who waltzed into the hearts with his dance performance on ‘3 Shaukk’ from Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh starrer ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ recently opened up about his experience working with Ajay Devgn in the film. In an exclusive conversation with ETimes, Meezan spoke about how he had to call the senior superstar ‘Uncle’ something most actors of Ajay’s stature would never allow. Talking about the moment, Meezaan shared a detailed and heartfelt account of how Ajay Devgn’s confidence, humility, and security as an artist left a deep impact on him both professionally and personally.Recalling his initial hesitation, Meezaan said he was unsure whether he should go ahead with the dialogue. It was then that he discovered an unexpected side of Ajay Devgn. Meezaan said, “I was petrified before the scene, I actually asked Ajay sir ke main bol du na (I can say this, right?), And Ajay Sir, is the coolest and the most confident and secure superstar I have ever met. For me, a superstar is not someone who needs the padding of other people, a superstar is someone who walks alone and is confident in himself and that is Ajay Sir for me. “ “I’ve never met someone so secure in my life. No other actor would let me say such dialogues. I have called Ajay Sir, Tharki Buddha, Buddha, Uncle etc. Others would never let me say it. But Ajay Sir is such a wonderful actor that he believes in the film and the script. He believes the script demands this boy to call me uncle at that point of time, which it did. And he agreed to do it. And he just told me, he’s like, are you crazy? What are you doing? Just go for it And after that, we just did” he added. “I think more than being scared, I was shocked at how this man is allowing me to do this. He was constantly pushing me forward, he even let me do his iconic Phool Aur Kaante split . So it was just a great learning experience as a human being, forget as an actor, to be so secure in your own skin., in today’s time we have become so insecure” he stated. ‘De De Pyaar De 2’ released on November 14, 2025. The film has minted a net collection of Rs. 51 crore, according to Sacnilk.
