Now You See Me Now You Don’t collects Rs 3.76 crore in India

Jesse Eisenberg’s ‘Now You See Me Now You Don’t’ fails to cross even Rs 4 crore collection in Week 1

Hollywood heist flick ‘Now You See Me Now You Don’t’ garnered Rs 3.76 crore in its opening week in India, falling short of expectations. Despite a strong weekend start driven by franchise fans, the film saw a significant drop mid-week. Analysts suggest its performance aligns with expectations for a non-localized thriller, with the second weekend crucial for its redemption.

The Hollywood heist-thriller Now You See Me Now You Don’t, directed by Ruben Fleischer and featuring a star-studded ensemble including Jesse Eisenberg, Mark Ruffalo, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Isla Fisher, Morgan Freeman, Rosamund Pike, and Lizzy Caplan, has completed its first week at the Indian box office with a total of Rs 3.76 crore. The film has failed to connect with the audience the way its makers and distributors would have liked to. The film opened to a respectable Rs 60 lakh on Friday, driven largely by fans of the original Now You See Me franchise and the curiosity surrounding its new narrative direction. Despite limited promotions in India, the film picked up strongly on Saturday, jumping 66.67% to earn Rs 1 crore, signalling growing interest and positive early chatter.Sunday saw further consolidation as the film collected Rs 1.05 crore. The weekend total stood at Rs 2.65 crore. However the film crashed on Monday as it collected just Rs 30 lakh, Tuesday saw a small spike to Rs 35 lakh only to crash on Wednesday and Thursday as it collected Rs 24 lakh and Rs 22 lakh respectively. And with that the total collection of the film stood at Rs 3.67 crore, it failed to cross even Rs 4 crore collection. In comparison, Dulquer Salmaan, Rana Daggubati and Bhagyashri Borse’s Tamil film kaantha minted over Rs 20 crore in the first week while gujarati film Laalo-Krishna Sada Sahaayate minted Rs 24.40 crore in its 6th week. Trade analysts note that Now You See Me Now You Don’t is performing in line with expectations for a thriller without significant India-focused promotion. Its genre, appeal among urban youth, and franchise value have ensured that the film has a decent start but now all depends on the second weekend ; if the film can redeem itself.
