GU, a brand under Fast Retailing Co., is set to debut its first collaboration with New York–based fashion label Engineered Garments, on December 5.

“I am extremely pleased to be releasing this first collection with GU. Designed around the theme of “Manhattanism”, this collection reimagines classic American items from the perspective of Engineered Garments, and offers them at GU’s reliable product quality and price,” explained Engineered Garments founder and designer, Daiki Suzuki.
“Although the two brands have different customer bases, their shared commitment to quality production, and trust between teams, has produced high-quality items. I look forward to seeing this collection reach more customers.”
The five-piece collection draws inspiration from the vibrancy and character of 1970s New York. It includes outerwear made from padded, windproof, and water-repellent fabrics, styled with an adjustable hem and a functional hunting pocket; a heavyweight heathered sweatshirt with a soft, vintage feel; a shawl-collar cable-knit cardigan with elbow-patch–style accents; and a fleece jacket designed to resemble a pullover with a concealed front opening.
The collection launches with a campaign produced in collaboration with Nepenthes America, photographed in the New York Atelier where all Engineered Garments pieces are made to capture the creative essence behind the partnership.
The collection will be available at the GU Soho store and online, with prices ranging from $39.90 to $99.90.
