Ajay Devgn’s De De Pyaar De 2 is steadily emerging as a surprise performer in the North American market, continuing its strong momentum through the weekday after an impressive first weekend. Long considered a territory ruled by Shah Rukh Khan when it comes to Hindi cinema, North America is now witnessing Ajay Devgn successfully carving out his own space with the sequel to his 2019 romantic comedy hit. After opening to a healthy response, the film had collected USD 665,000 over its debut weekend. Monday saw the rom-com add another USD 49,000, taking its total to USD 717,000. But the real boost came on Tuesday, when De De Pyaar De 2 surprised trade analysts by pulling in a strong USD 125,000, a figure significantly higher than typical weekday drops in overseas markets.
With this, the film’s cumulative North American total now stands at USD 843,000 ( Rs 7.45 crore) , reinforcing the sentiment that the Ajay Devgn–Rakul Preet Singh starrer has connected well with the diaspora audience. The presence of R. Madhavan, Meezan Jafri, and Jaaved Jaaferi has also broadened the film’s appeal among family audiences, who seem to be turning up in steady numbers despite the crowded release calendar. In comparison, Rashmika Mandanna’s The Girlfriend, which released just a week earlier and had a promising start, is now showing signs of slowing down. The film currently stands at USD 691,000, trailing behind De De Pyaar De 2 despite an early lead. While The Girlfriend still has some runway left, it is clear that Ajay Devgn’s film has taken the lead in the North American box office race.In India as well De De Pyaar De is holding out strong as it inches towards crossing Rs 50 crore mark. At the end of its 6th day the film has collected Rs 47.75 crore and is looking at a lifetime run between 80 to 85 crore, much lower than the original’s collection.
