Andhra Pradesh: PM Modi offers prayers at Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s Mahasamadhi — video

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday visited Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh to pay homage at the Mahasamadhi of late spiritual leader Sri Sathya Sai Baba as part of his birth centenary celebrations.According to visuals from the visit, PM Modi was accompanied by Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu and deputy CM Pawan Kalyan at Prasanthi Nilayam where he offered prayers and paid his respects.

As per the official statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), he will also release a commemorative coin and a set of postal stamps honouring Sathya Sai Baba’s legacy of service and spiritual leadership.The PMO said the prime minister will later travel to Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu to inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit. During the programme, he will release the 21st instalment of PM-KISAN, amounting to more than Rs 18,000 crore to support around nine crore farmers across the country.Ahead of his arrival, security arrangements in Puttaparthi were strengthened with barricades and deployment of police personnel to ensure safety and protocol.PM Modi earlier said that Sri Sathya Sai Baba’s life and contributions “remain a guiding light for generations” and recalled his earlier interactions with the revered spiritual figure. “I look forward to being among my sisters and brothers of Andhra Pradesh tomorrow, November 19 to participate in the birth centenary celebrations of Sri Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi. His life and efforts towards community service and the spiritual awakening of society remain a guiding light for generations. I have had various opportunities to interact with him and learn from him over the years. Here are some glimpses from our interactions,” he wrote in a post on X.
