When Dharmendra tried hiding beer as ‘Lassi’

When Dharmendra tried hiding beer as ‘Lassi’, Moushumi Chatterjee exposed the prank

Veteran actor Dharmendra’s playful and often mischievous personality has always been part of Bollywood folklore, and here let’s take a throwback look when he openly admitted that he would secretly drink alcohol on the sets of Sholay, often dipping into the stock brought by cameraman Jim. “He would bring five to six bottles every day, and I would quietly take my share,” he had confessed. As revealed in ‘Aap Ki Adalat’, in one instance, Dharmendra even learned that he had unknowingly consumed nearly 12 bottles of alcohol in a single day. His reaction, as he later shared, was one of genuine surprise: “How did this happen? I don’t know.” Speaking about his fluctuating relationship with alcohol, he admitted, “I quit for six months, play badminton, sweat it out… and then start again. I am a bit extreme.”When Moushumi caught him having Beer disguised as LassiAmong his most memorable revelations was an incident with Moushumi Chatterjee, who once caught him trying to pass off beer as lassi on a film set. Dharmendra shared that he had requested the production team to create foam on top of the beer so it would look like buttermilk. But when Moushumi walked in and asked what he was drinking, he innocently replied, “Lassi.” Her response—“Okay, give me some too”—left him laughing, after which he confessed it was beer. “Nothing happens from drinking beer,” he joked, capturing the light-hearted banter of that era.Shatrughan Sinha visits Hema Malini post Dharmendra’s recoveryShifting to the present, Dharmendra has recently recovered and been discharged from the hospital, prompting loved ones and colleagues to extend their support. Among them was longtime friend Shatrughan Sinha, who, along with wife Poonam Sinha, visited Hema Malini’s residence to check on the family. Sharing photos from the meeting, Sinha posted a heartfelt note acknowledging Hema Malini’s grace and wishing Dharmendra continued strength. “Our prayers are with them all,” he wrote, reaffirming the deep bond their families share.
