When Farhan was denied college admission

When Farhan Akhtar was denied college admission; Farah Khan reveals how Javed Akhtar reacted to principal’s harsh remark

Filmmaker Farah Khan shared heartwarming childhood anecdotes with cousin Farhan Akhtar, including his college admission struggles and father Javed Akhtar’s disappointment. She also recounted her family’s refuge with Farhan’s parents after her father’s bankruptcy. Humorous tales of Sajid Khan’s meltdowns and Farah’s film offer rejection for financial reasons rounded out the chat.

Farah Khan recently visited her cousin Farhan Akhtar’s Mumbai home. While the two laughed about their childhood memories, Farah also opened up about an emotionally heavy phase from their youth — the time when Farhan struggled to secure admission to a college, leaving his father, veteran writer Javed Akhtar, deeply upset. She shared the story in her latest vlog.

Farhan was not good in studies

Farah revealed that Farhan was “not good in studies” and had low marks when he applied for admission. Recalling the incident, she narrated, “The college principal was very rude. She said, ‘I am giving him admission because of Javed Akhtar sahab but actually he doesn’t deserve to be in this college.’ We all felt so bad, and his father was so upset.”

Farhan’s unexpected reaction: ‘Buy me masala bhel’

Interestingly, Farhan — completely unfazed at the time — left the adults surprised. Farah recounted, “We were crossing Marine Drive and thought Farhan would feel bad, but he asked his father to buy him masala bhel. His dad got so angry and said, ‘Sharam nahi aate tumhe?’” Farhan himself laughed at the memory in the vlog.

Farah reveals their family history and early struggles

Farah also spoke about the period when she and her brother Sajid Khan lived with Farhan’s family after their own home situation collapsed. “Farhan’s mother gave us refuge and help. We lived together for many years,” she shared, recalling how her father Kamran Khan’s bankruptcy led to alcoholism and eventually broke the family apart.

Sajid Khan’s dramatic meltdown over a game

The vlog also featured a humorous anecdote about Sajid Khan accusing both Farah and Farhan of being “jealous” of him. Farhan explained, “We were playing a game, and Sajid thought everybody was cheating… He said, ‘You’re all jealous because my film was better than your first films,’ and then he walked out — only to return 15 minutes later.”

Why Farah rejected Farhan’s film offer

Farhan also revealed that he had approached Farah to choreograph his upcoming film 120 Bahadur, but she eventually chose MasterChef India instead. Farah admitted with a laugh, “I was getting more money in MasterChef. Hamari puri family ko paise se kitna pyaar hai.” Go to Source
