Fatima Sana Shaikh reveals she suffered from Bulimia

In an interaction with Rhea Chakraborty, Fatima Sana Shaikh said that she has had a very “love-hate” relationship with herself. The actress expressed that she has been “addicted” to a certain image of herself. She said that she always feels, “I have to look like this.” Adding further, Fatima said, “And I have a very toxic relationship with food.”The actress revealed that during ‘Dangal’ she had put on weight for the role. She shared that she was training for three hours and working out for 1.5 hours. She said, “So I consumed 2,500 to 3,000 calories every day for me to gain weight. Now, when the movie ended, I am not training so much, but I am still having 3,000 calories. Because I am used to it. So I am unfit, I’m not healthy, I’m not working out.”Fatima shared that it made things very difficult for her as food became her comfort space, and she was able to eat non-stop for hours. The actress expressed, “It still happens to me. And I’m hating myself because I have no control. I’m just eating, and I am upset. Why can’t I stop? I have no control.”The actress stated that she is an extremist when it comes to maintaining food-physique balance. Shaikh revealed, “Then I would go into a starve mode. It was so disabling that I would not step out of my house. Because I would end up eating a lot. I’ll eat outside as well as at home.”

Fatima said, “Sanya (Malhotra) knew what was happening, and she was like, ‘I know what you are doing.’ At first I was like, ‘No. I am not doing anything.’ Then she said, ‘I just want you to know that I know.'”Fatima expressed, “And then I felt shame. I felt that I was doing something that was not right. It’s damaging me, my mental health.”
