Kantara 2 fails to beat Mahavtar Narsimha and Chhaava in 7th weekend

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ mints Rs 1.16 crore in 7th weekend fails to beat Ashwin Kumar ‘Mahavtar Narsimha’ and Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ continues its strong theatrical run, earning Rs 1.16 crore in its seventh weekend. Despite its OTT release, the film draws crowds, though it faced stiff competition from ‘Mahavtar Narsimha’ and ‘Chhaava’. ‘Kantara 2’ has already become a major hit, with potential to challenge top box office records.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 continued its long theatrical run into the seventh weekend despite its OTT release. The film has been managing to draw audiences to the cinema halls but has witnessed a noticeable dip. It has collected Rs 1.16 crore over the three days, taking the overall collection of the film to Rs 620.72 crore. While this is a respectable number for a film in its seventh week, it was not enough for the action-mythology drama to stay ahead of the competition. The film failed to beat the two of the biggest money spinners of the 7th weekend, Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavtar Narsimha and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavtar Narsimha has collected only Rs 250 crore from its theatrical run, in the seventh weekend it collected more than Kantara 2. It is the second highest grossing film in the 7th weekend having collected Rs 1.91 crore with Friday coming in at Rs 44 lakh on Friday, Rs 57 lakh on Saturday and Rs 90 lakh on Sunday. But the king of the 7th weekend was Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava as it had collected Rs 4.30 crore during its seventh weekend. The film recorded Rs 1.15 crore on Friday, Rs 2 crore on Saturday and Rs 1.15 crore on Sunday demonstrating robust audience pull even after weeks in theatres. On the 29th day of its release Kantara 2 was released on OTT in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada version, but despite that the film has been pulling audience in all languages. Here is a breakdown of its 7th weekend collection of Rs1.16 crore. Kannada version contributed Rs 35 lakh, while Hindi version brought in Rs 70 lakh, with Tamil and Malayalam version bringing in Rs 9 lakh and Rs 2 lakh respectively. Kanatara 2 has already become the biggest hit of 2025 and 7th biggest hit of Indian Cinema, had it not been released on OTT- it had the potential to challenge Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan for the 6th position which had collected over Rs 640 crore. .
