Akon harassed on stage during Bengaluru concert

Akon harassed on stage during Bengaluru concert as fans pull at his pants; viral video sparks outrage online

Akon’s Bengaluru stop on his India Tour, expected to be a high-energy celebration of his biggest hits, has now become the centre of an online controversy after a video from the concert went viral.

Fans pull at Akon’s pants mid-performance

The incident occurred on November 14 while the singer was performing Sexy Bitch. Akon stepped closer to the barricaded VIP section to interact with the audience, but instead of handshakes, some fans began tugging at his pants. The clip shows the international star visibly uncomfortable as he attempted to adjust his clothing multiple times while continuing to sing.

Outrage grows on social media

The behaviour has been widely condemned online, with many calling it “harassment.” One user wrote, “This is sad, they were harassing him live on stage. He is an international artist trying to perform for them and they are just harassing him.” Another commented, “Akon will remember this for a while.”

Incident overshadows the concert experience

For many attendees and viewers who later saw the clip online, the incident dominated the conversation, taking attention away from the performance itself. Several social media posts suggested that a large portion of the concert felt overshadowed by the repeated disruptions and Akon’s visible discomfort as he tried to adjust to the situation. Users noted that basic concert etiquette seemed to be completely ignored, with some pointing out that the behaviour was embarrassing regardless of which age group was involved.

Akon continues India Tour despite controversy

Akon, who performed in Delhi on November 9 and is set to conclude his India Tour in Mumbai on November 16, has not addressed the viral video publicly. But fans and concert-goers are urging better crowd behaviour and respect for performers — especially when global artists take the stage for Indian audiences.
