Bihar election results: RJD talks of ups & downs in politics, mum on 'vote chori'

Lalu clan silent on result, Tejashwi not seen in public for 48 hoursPATNA: The RJD appears to be trying to come to terms with its dismal performance in the just-concluded Bihar assembly election, though it has so far refrained from seconding the allegations of ‘vote theft’ being levelled by its ally Congress.Although Tejashwi Yadav, who was the opposition alliance’s CM face in the polls, has been incommunicado after the party’s disastrous show, his party RJD sought to convey the message that victory and defeat are part of electoral process.”Public service is a continuous process, an endless journey! Ups and downs are bound to come in it. No despair in defeat, no arrogance in victory!” the party said in a social media post from its official handle on Saturday.”RJD is the party of the poor and will continue to raise their voice while living among the poor!” the post said further. The official response, though, is in sharp contrast with the angry reactions by party spokespersons. “Jab yahi karna tha toh chunao ka natak nahin karna chahiya tha (There was no need for the farce of elections if they had to do this),” Chitranjan Gagan, a party spokesperson, said. No one from RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s family has so far commented on the results. The party has won only 25 seats this time, only marginally better a tally of 22 in the 2010 assembly polls.
