Kuwaiti security authorities have dismantled a secret medical clinic in Farwaniya, leading to the arrest of four Indian nationals, one of whom was found practicing medicine without a license, while the other three were receiving treatment. Investigations also uncovered an illegal network distributing government-issued medicines and theft from a government health center, bringing the total number of arrests related to the case to eight. The operation highlights the authorities’ commitment to public safety and strict enforcement of medical regulations.

Discovery of the unlicensed clinic

According to Ministry of Interior, In a coordinated effort between the Security Directorates Sector and the Criminal Security Sector, authorities targeted a private apartment in Farwaniya after receiving information about illegal medical activity. The raid revealed a fully functioning unlicensed clinic operating without proper authorization, endangering patients’ health.

  • Four Indian nationals were detained inside:
    • One individual was practicing medicine illegally.
    • The remaining three were visiting the premises for treatment.

The discovery emphasized the risks posed by unlicensed medical facilities and reinforced the need for vigilance to protect public health.

Illegal distribution of government medicines

Further investigation uncovered a wider network supplying government-issued medicines outside legal channels.

  • Three Bangladeshi nationals were arrested for delivering medications to the unlicensed clinic in exchange for money.

Authorities confirmed that the illegal distribution not only facilitated unlicensed medical treatments but also diverted medicines meant for legitimate public healthcare, putting more people at risk.

Theft from government health facilities

The inquiry revealed that the operation involved an insider within the healthcare system.

  • A Bangladeshi employee at a government health center had been stealing medicines from the facility.
  • These stolen medicines were supplied to the suspects running the unlicensed clinic, further sustaining the illegal operation.

This demonstrated the network’s organization and exploitation of state resources for profit.

Legal actions and safeguarding medicines

In total, eight suspects of Indian and Bangladeshi nationality were arrested in connection with the case.

  • Legal procedures have been initiated against all individuals involved.
  • The Drug Control Department of the Ministry of Health coordinated with authorities to properly secure and catalog the confiscated medicines.

The case underscores Kuwaiti security authorities’ ongoing efforts to dismantle unlicensed medical operations, prevent misuse of government healthcare resources, and protect public health.
