'Homebound' OTT release: When and where to watch India's official Oscar entry starring Ishaan Khatter, Vishal Jethwa and Janhvi Kapoor

Neeraj Ghaywan’s acclaimed film ‘Homebound,’ starring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, is set for its digital debut on Netflix on November 21, 2025. ‘Homebound’ OTT release

‘Homebound’, the film that garnered international recognition, will be making its premiere on a streaming platform soon.The film has been selected as India’s official entry at the 98th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.And now, according to the reports, the movie will be out on OTT on November 21, 2025. Those keen to catch the Ishaan-starrer, can do so when it debuts on Netflix.

Hollywood’s legendary director Martin Scorsese served as an executive producer of the film. The film showcased the friendship between Mohammed Shoaib Ali (Ishaan Khatter) and Chandan Kumar (Vishal Jethwa), two childhood friends who want to become police officers.

‘Homebound’ is Ghaywan’s second film, that has received global acclaim after ‘Masaan’, which released in 2015. The film received a nine-minute standing ovation during its world debut at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival.Backed by Karan Johar, the 122-minute-long film also stars Harshika Parmar, Shalini Vatsa, Chandan K Anand, and Vijay Vikram Singh.

Festival screenings of ‘Homebound’

The movie was screened at the Melbourne International Film Festival in August and will now be showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025 in the Gala Presentation.

Box office collection of the film

Reportedly, the box office earnings of the movie were just Rs 3 crore. At the time, reports blamed the low screen-count for the film’s underperformance at the box office.
