Shatrughan’s brother forced him to marry Reena when his wife was pregnant

Shatrughan Sinha's brother gave him an ultimatum to marry Reena Roy when his wife Poonam Sinha was pregnant; here's what the actor said about the 'baharwali' in his biography

Shatrughan Sinha was married to Poonam Sinha and in his biography, the actor has admitted that he was having an affair with Reena Roy as well. In his book, Sinha recalled an instance when his brother Ram summoned him to Reena’s house and ordered him to marry her. This was after Dharmendra married Hema Malini without leaving his first wife Prakash Kaur. Upon seeing that, Shatrughan was also told by his brother to marry Reena, or else he would tell everyone about their affair. In 1983, Ram instructed his younger brother to marry Reena. At that very time, Shatrughan’s wife Poonam Sinha was pregnant with twins, Luv and Kush. Recounting the episode in his biography, Shatrughan shared how Ram summoned him to Reena’s home and, upon arrival, “asked me point-blank to marry her, right there, right then.”

Ram, who “had given his word to Reena,” left Shatrughan stunned as he witnessed the situation unfold. Ram remained adamant and even threatened that if Shatrughan refused, he would reveal the affair publicly.Ram penned a detailed letter addressed to every member of the Sinha family as well as Shatrughan’s close circle, outlining his entire relationship with Reena. He concluded the letter with the line, “… and so, he must marry Reena.” The moment the letter came into the hands of Shatrughan’s secretary, Pawan Kumar, he acted swiftly. Even though Shatrughan was shooting outside Mumbai, Pawan immediately informed him, and as the biography notes, it was this intervention that ultimately safeguarded Shatrughan and Poonam’s marriage. As per reports, producer Pahlaj Nihalini had once recalled how even Reena had given an ultimatum to Sinha to marry her or else she would get married to someone else in eight days. She told Nihlani, “Tell your friend to make up his mind. If he gives me an answer, I’ll do the next film with him. Otherwise, it’s a ‘No’. I’ve made up my mind that if he doesn’t marry me, I’m going to get married in eight days.” According to sources on Reddit, Nihlani revealed that after the success of ‘Haathkadi’, he was eager to reunite Shatrughan, Reena, and Sanjeev Kumar for the new film. However, Reena Roy firmly declined his offer, refusing to be a part of the project. When his biography was ‘Anything But Khamosh: The Shatrughan Sinha Biography’ by Bharathi S Pradhan was launched, the actor had said in an interview with PTI, “The book has the summary of my life, from how I left home to study films at Pune, my struggle in the film industry, and then the girls who came into my life – the gharwali (wife) came and then baharwali (the other woman).” He added, “I have done that without hurting anybody’s dignity. There is no vulgarity or voyeurism in the book. I haven’t mentioned about many girls in my life. They are settled, they have children. It’s not the right thing to identify them.”Reena eventually went on to marry Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan and they then welcomed their daughter Sanam Khan. Go to Source
