Killed your dad, body in bag at home, woman, 40, tells married daughter

.

RAIPUR: “I killed your father, stuffed the body in a bag and left it at home,” a 40-year-old woman from Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district allegedly made this chilling confession to her 23-year-old newlywed daughter in Korba over the phone on November 9 before apparently vanishing without a trace. The accused, Mangrita, who works in Mumbai, had returned to her village, Bhinjpur in Jashpur, a few months ago. Since then, she and her husband, Santosh Bhagat (43), had been quarrelling frequently, neighbours said.Soon after the call got disconnected, the shocked daughter and her husband dialled their relatives and rushed to Bhinjpur on November 10 to find a stroller containing Bhagat’s body wrapped in a blanket. Bhagat’s elder brother informed police, Jashpur SP Shashimohan Singh said.Police booked Mangrita under BNS Section 103(1) (murder) and launched a search for her. A team was also dispatched to Maharashtra to trace her. Cops suspect Bhagat died of bleeding from the nose and mouth. The body was sent for autopsy, and the preliminary post-mortem report indicated a fatal blow to the temple inflicted with a sharp-edged weapon, officials said.According to the FIR, the couple had an argument on November 7. Neighbours said the dispute spilled over to next day, and Bhagat was likely murdered on the night of November 8.
