Telugu actor Tarun finds himself at the center of controversy as reports emerge of his opulent lifestyle while incarcerated. Accused in the Ranya Rao gold smuggling affair, he is believed to be enjoying benefits such as a personal phone and select culinary delights.

Telugu actor Tarun is one of the main accused in the high-profile Ranya Rao gold smuggling case and the recent reports say that the ‘Parichayam’ actor is reportedly leading a luxurious life inside prison. As reported by Aaj Tak says that Tarun enjoys VIP-like privileges, including access to a mobile phone, television, and special food. These are rarely afforded to regular inmates.Reportedly the actor’s cell is equipped with a comfortable bed, entertainment options, and privacy unlike that of other prisoners. A video allegedly showing these privileges has surfaced online.

Ranya Rao’s frequent Dubai trips under scanner

For the unversed, the gold smuggling case first came to light after the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) began investigating Ranya Rao who is the daughter of a senior IPS officer.Reports say that the Investigators revealed that Ranya had traveled to Dubai over 50 times between 2023 and 2025. The actress was allegedly using these trips to facilitate a gold smuggling operation. The agencies suspect that the smuggling ring was connected to several international contacts based in Dubai and Geneva.

Tarun’s alleged role in the gold network

Actor Tarun was accused of being a key link between Ranya Rao and the international smuggling syndicate. According to investigators, he allegedly introduced Ranya to smugglers and financiers through film industry events and Dubai-based parties that were attended by influential figures.Tarun, who also holds American citizenship, was arrested while reportedly attempting to flee to Geneva. After his arrest, he was remanded to judicial custody.Following these reports, officials from both the DRI and ED are said to be re-evaluating the facilities provided to Tarun in jail.

Meanwhile, on the professional front, made her debut with the Kannada film ‘Maanikya’ which was directed by Sudeepa and was released in the year 2014. Later she signed her first Tamil film ‘Wagah’ in the year 2015, starring alongside Vikram Prabhu.
