‘Tumhara role kat gaya hai’: When Nawazuddin Siddiqui cried after being removed from Kamal Haasan’s ‘Hey Ram’

Nawazuddin’s emotional revelation

Nawaz revealed how he had attended the ‘Hey Ram’ premiere with a heart full of excitement and invited 5-6 friends, to finally see himself on the big screen . During the Kapil sharma Show, He recalled, “It’s premiere was held at Film City in Mumbai and I took at least 5-6 of my friends. I told them, ‘Boss Hey Ram aarahi hai, Maine kaam kia hai usmein.’ Everyone came.”But before the movie began, Kamal Haasan approached him with heartbreaking news. “Before the film began, Kamal Haasan sahab came to me and said, ‘Nawaz, apne doston ko bol do ki tumhara role cut gaya hai).’” The young actor was devastated. Nawaz shared with pain, “Sir meri bahut bezzati hojaege.” He said, “I went to my friends and I started crying and I told my friends that my role had been cut. I gave them the choice to watch the film or not but they wanted to watch it.”He broke down in front of his friends but later remembered how Kamal’s daughter, Shruti Haasan, kindly consoled him.

Year’s later when Kapil Sharma asked Kamal Haasan to revisit that incident and comment on Nawazuddin’s journey, the veteran star’s response was filled with admiration. Kamal said warmly, “Oh yes, I know, I am proud of him. He was also an assistant director of Hey Ram. He was a fantastic actor even then, wo footage ki wajah se scene cut ho gaya. He’s talking about it casually now, but that day he was heartbroken.” Kamal’s words showed not just respect for Nawaz’s talent but also empathy for his early struggles.

On the work front

Nawazuddin Siddiqui recently seen in movie ‘Thaama’, where he was the main antagonist and played the role roleYakshasan. Movie also stars Ayushmann Khurrana, and Rashmika Mandanna in main lead. Movie was release during Diwali and became blockbuster. His upcoming projects includes ‘Section 108’, directed by Rasikh Khan which will release in 2026, another one is ‘Blind Babu’.Meanwhile Kamal Haasan recently seen in ‘Indian 2’ and ‘Thug Life’.
