'Dies Irae' box office collections day 6: Pranav Mohanlal’s horror drama continues its scare run; Nears Rs 25 cr

Rahul Sadasivan’s spine-chilling thriller ‘Dies Irae’ has taken the box office by storm, raking in over Rs 24.60 crore during its opening week. Starring Pranav Mohanlal, the film kicked off with a robust Rs 4.7 crore and has sustained impressive audience turnout, especially during late-night showings.

Rahul Sadasivan’s ‘Dies Irae’ is proving to be a consistent performer at the box office, maintaining a steady run through its first week. The Pranav Mohanlal-starrer collected an estimated Rs 2.25 crore (India net) on its sixth day, pushing its total to Rs 24.60 crore across all languages, according to early estimates by the Sacnilk website. The horror thriller opened to strong numbers with Rs 4.7 crore on Friday and showed impressive growth over the weekend, peaking at Rs 6.35 crore on Sunday.

Malayalam occupancy remains healthy

On Wednesday, ‘Dies Irae’ recorded an overall Malayalam occupancy rate of 27.04%. The numbers indicate a gradual increase through the day which is from 20.17% in morning shows to a healthy 36.10% during night screenings. The evening crowd continues to boost the film’s weekday performance.

Another win for Rahul Sadasivan

Director Rahul Sadasivan may not be having a good start in his film career as his debut film ‘Red Rain’ flopped at the box office. But he definitely made a comeback with the success of the films ‘Bhoothakaalam’, ‘Bramayugam’ and now ‘Dies Irae’. In a slow paced narrative, Rahul Sadasivan executes a well made horror movie that is appealing to the family audiences as well.Featuring Pranav Mohanlal in a restrained yet compelling role, Dies Irae stars Arun Ajikumar, Jaya Kurup, Manohari Joy, and Gibin Gopinath in pivotal parts. The movie also has a surprise cameo appearance which is revealed towards the climax.
