Kantara 2 mints over Rs 1 crore on Tuesday

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 witnessed a near 70 % jump on Tuesday to collect over Rs 1 crore in Hindi

Rishab Shetty’s blockbuster ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ has taken the cinematic world by storm, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2025 and securing its position as the 7th largest Indian film in history. Fans were taken aback by its unexpected OTT release on the 29th day, especially as the Telugu and Tamil versions wrap up their theatrical runs.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has already set benchmarks for all future films in Indian Cinema, it has become the highest grossing film of 2025 and 7th biggest Indian film of all time. But the film is already available on OTT platform and this was done on the 29th day of its release , the sudden decision has left everyone wondering. The southern language films usually have a 4 week window for its OTT release but there are always exceptions like . Prabhas’s Kalki 2898 AD with Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan was released on OTT 8 weeks after its theatrical release and same was the case with Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra. The OTT release of the film has happened in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, while Hindi release will happen after it completes 8 weeks in the cinema halls. Telugu and Tamil versions have been discontinued from the theaters as of now.

Rishab Shetty Speaks Out; Kantara Production Rumours Debunked

Kannada and Hindi versions have been the two major engines for the film and on its 34th day, the Hindi version contributed Rs 1.1 crore to the total Tuesday collection of Rs 1.42 crore as per Sacnilk. On Tuesday the Hindi witnessed a near 70 % jump from its Monday collection of Rs 65 lakh- thereby showing that there is still a lot of potential left for the film. In fact even the Kannada version witnessed a small jump as it collected Rs 28 lakh on Tuesday after Rs 25 lakh on Monday. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 613.22 crore. The film had the potential to cross Rs 640 crore and become the 6th biggest hit of Indian cinema and displace Shah Rukh Khan and Atlee’s Jawan but that now seems like an impossible feat.Kantara 2 features Rishab Shetty alongside Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah and Jayaram. The franchise will return for the third part which was announced in the climax of the second part but it will take a few years to go on floors as Rishab has few big projects as an actor in his hands.
