3 Indian-origin men arrested in Texas in prostitution sting targeting human trafficking

3 Indian-origin men were arrested in Irving, Texas, for seeking prostitution.

In a recent sting operation, Texas’ Irving Police Department arrested 10 individuals, including three Indian-origin, on for solicitation of prostitution, the Irving Weekly reported. The operation was part of an ongoing investigation into human trafficking in the city. 28-year-old Sasi Kunchea, Sai Hemanth Maremalla, 28 and Manoharachary Sriramula, 30, were the three Indian-origin Telugus arrested. The report said solicitation of prostitution is a serious offence in Texas, classified as a felony even for a first-time violation. One can be imprisoned for up to two years in state jail, along with a fine of up to $10,000 if found guilty. The law defines the offense as knowingly offering, agreeing, or attempting to engage in sexual conduct for a fee, regardless of whether the exchange actually takes place or involves monetary payment.
