PM Modi Congratulates Indian Women’s Cricket Team on Historic World Cup Victory

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Indian women’s cricket team for their historic triumph in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025. Expressing immense pride, PM Modi said the team’s success has inspired millions across the nation, describing it as the result of years of hard work and determination. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, India defeated South Africa to lift the trophy for the first time, ending a 52-year-long wait since the men’s 2011 victory under MS Dhoni. The win sparked nationwide celebrations, with leaders including President Droupadi Murmu, Home Minister Amit Shah, Yogi Adityanath, and cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli praising the players for making India proud.
