Kantara 2 beats Lokah for 5th weekend collection

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ beats Kalyani Priyadarshan’s ‘Lokah: Chapter 1- Chandra’ for 5th weekend collection

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ is soaring high, firmly establishing itself as the towering success of 2025, now ranking as the seventh biggest movie in Indian cinema history. Its journey isn’t halted by OTT releases; instead, it’s captivating audiences in cinemas everywhere. The Hindi version is on track for a digital debut eight weeks post its theatrical release.

From the day of its release Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 has been setting one benchmark after another, it has already become the biggest hit of 2025 and the 7th biggest hit of Indian Cinema. And despite having its OTT release on 31st October in Tamil, Telugu,Malayalam and Kannada- the film is still pulling in the audience in the theaters. The Hindi version is slated to be released on OTT after the film completes 8 weeks in cinema halls. Kantara 2 was in the 5th weekend of its release and despite the film releasing on Friday itself, the film collected Rs 1.85 crore at the ticket window. On Saturday the film added Rs 3.5 crore to its total with Sunday collection coming up to Rs 3.25 crore , taking the fifth weekend total to Rs 8.70 crore and with that it has become the 3rd highest 5th weekend grosser. The film was able to go past Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah; Chapter 1- Chandra which had collected Rs 4.45 crore from its fifth weekend. As Kantara 2 took the third spot, the two stumbling blocks in its journey to the top were Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava and Ashwin Kumar’s Mahavatar Narsimha which collected Rs 23.15 crore and Rs 13 crore respectively. Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s Saiyaara, which is the second biggest Hindi film of the year, was able to mint about Rs 1.5 crore in its 5th weekend. In today’s day and age for a film to reach the 5th week is proof of how much the film has connected with the audience and still wants to see the film on the big screen. In fact there have been only a handful of films which were able to stay in theaters for this long period.
