Kantara 2 is now 37th biggest hit of Hindi Cinema

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ beats Hrithik Roshan- Deepika Padukone’s ‘Fighter’ to become 37th biggest hit of Hindi Cinema

‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’, featuring Rishab Shetty, is defying the odds with an incredible box office trajectory, even after transitioning to OTT platforms. Its Hindi version has successfully eclipsed ‘Fighter’, now ranking as the 37th most successful Hindi film. As it faces formidable competition from upcoming titles, the film’s robust showing reflects its unwavering fanbase and commercial fortitude.

Despite having a stellar run at the sun Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 was released on OTT platform on 31st October. The film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada version- with only Hindi version left behind, which is expected to stream after the film completes 8 weeks in cinema halls. The film has minted Rs 607.15 crore in 31 days with Hindi version contributing Rs 214.5 crore and Kannada contributing Rs 195.35 crore. Even after its release on OTT the film has continued its dominance at the box office as it minted about Rs 3.50 crore at the ticket window , showing a nearly 95 % jump in collections over Friday. From its 3.5 crore collection, Rs 1.85 crore collection came from the Hindi version which has taken the total Hindi collection to Rs 214.5 crore and with that Kantara 2 has gone past the lifetime collection of Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor and Siddharth Anand’s Fighter which had collected Rs 212.79 crore , thereby becoming the 37th biggest hit of Hindi cinema. The journey for the film from its point onwards looks difficult as Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki sits on 36th position with Rs 227 crore and on 35th position is his Chennai Express with Rs 227.13 crore. It needs around Rs 13 crore now to jump up on the leadership board, it seems possible but will take a long time now. Kantara 2 had the potential to cross Rs 640 crore and challenge Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan for the 7th spot on the biggest hit of Indian Cinema list but now with its OTT release, the number looks extremely difficult. The film also featured Gulshan Devaiah, Rukmini Vasanth and Jayaram in leading roles
