'Hope of every Christian': Indian-origin MAGA activist supports JD Vance's statement on Usha's religion; 'Unlike Hinduism...'

JD Vance gets support from Indian-origin MAGA activist Dinesh D’Souza on his controversial comment on Usha Vance’s religion.

Indian-origin MAGA commentator Dinesh D’souza endorsed Vice President JD Vance’s statement on Second Lady Usha Vance’s religion and explained that every true Christian wants to share the love of Christ. Unlike Hinduism, Judaism, Christianity is a religion of conversion like Islam, the Mumbai-born MAGA commentator said. Vance’s statement that he wished his wife to convert to Catholicism led to a major uproar as it came across as a denial of Usha Vance’s Hindu origin. Hindu groups condemned JD Vance for distancing himself from his wife’s faith though in the past he himself said that his wife’s faith helped him reconnect with his faith and he got baptized in 2019. In his controversial statement, Vance also called Usha Vance ‘agnostic’ though Usha Vance said she belonged to a religious Hindu family. “As I’ve told her, and I’ve said publicly, and I’ll say now in front of 10,000 of my closest friends: Do I hope eventually that she is somehow moved by the same thing that I was moved by church? Yeah, I honestly do wish that because I believe in the Christian Gospel, and I hope eventually my wife comes to see it the same way. But if she doesn’t, then God says everybody has free will, and so that doesn’t cause a problem for me,” JD Vance said making it clear that he spoke about it with Usha as well. Photo of JD Vance and Usha Vance’s Hindu marriage, their Indian sartorial choices on several occasions and the very fact that they named one of their sons ‘Vivek’ — an Indian Hindu name — were pointed out as a major discourse took place on how Vance has been deliberately lying only to pander to the Christian MAGA base.

Religion debate cites Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley’s cases

Usha Vance’s choice of faith is not a matter of speculation as the Second Lady, in a not-so-old interview, clarified that she has no intention of converting to Christianity. But social media debate shed light on similar cases that took place in the past like Bobby Jindal and Nikki Haley. Former Louisiana governor, Indian-origin Bobby Jindal, converted from Hinduism to Catholicism. His wife Supriya Jolly Jindal is also a Catholic convert. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley, an Indian-origin Sikh whose birth name was Nimrata Randhwa, converted to Christianity after marrying Michael Haley.
