‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ vs ‘Thamma’: Producer REACTS to clash

'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' VS 'Thamma': Producer reacts to clash and few screens; says 'Our box office numbers are more or less the same'

In a recent interview, the mastermind behind ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ candidly discussed the fierce competition they faced from ‘Thamma’ for screen time. Thankfully, they were able to carve out enough showings for their film. He expressed that while major productions often claim the limelight first, he accepts this industry norm.

Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa starrer ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’. However, since the horror film was one of the most anticipated films of the year, the romantic-drama was reportedly ‘struggling’ to secure screens at theatres across the country.

‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ producer on getting fewer screens compared to ‘Thamma’

Now, in a recent interview with News18 Showsha, the producer of ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’, Anshul Garg, admitted the fact that his film faced issues to get screens. During the interaction, he stated that multiple big movies clashed at the box office during Diwali in the last few years. Citing the examples of ‘Singham Again’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’, he stated that both movies earned almost equal. The producer revealed that they managed to get the screens which were “needed” and “sufficient.” He went on to add that as there were fewer screens, they witnessed “housefull” screenings, and eventually the screen-sharing ratio reduced from 70-30 to 45-55.

No issues with big banners getting priority

During the same interview, when asked if big banners are given priority, Garg replied with a positive approach. He said, “I feel there should be some benefit if you are a ruler. If Dinesh sir has given 10 hits and he is being prioritised now, I don’t think that’s wrong.” He added that his film has received appreciation and love from the audience and earned over Rs 50 crore in five days. He also claimed that distributors told him that they were not expecting such a response. He said, “We are happy with the results. I met Dinesh sir before the release. He also praised the film’s music. I could not meet him after the release, but our box office numbers are more or less the same.”
