Mass Jathara crosses Rs 2 crore mark in advance booking

Ravi Teja’s ‘Mass Jathara’ crosses Rs 2 crore mark in advance booking

Ravi Teja’s ‘Mass Jathara’ faces a challenging release, with advance bookings reportedly low against its substantial budget. The film’s premiere strategy, shifting to evening shows on October 31st, appears to be a response to the overwhelming popularity of the re-released ‘Bahubali-The Epic’. The latter has already achieved significant earnings, highlighting the enduring impact of the ‘Baahubali’ franchise on Indian cinema.

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja is all set to be back on the big screen with debutant director Bhanu Bogavarapu’s film Mass Jathara. The action comedy has Sreeleela opposite Ravi Teja. For some time now Ravi Teja has been finding it difficult to connect with his loyal fanbase, his last three releases Mr Bachchan ( Telugu remake of Ajay Devgn’s Raid), Eagle and Tiger Nageswara Rao were loss making ventures. And going by advance booking reports shared by Sacnilk, Mass Jathara is also finding it difficult to attract audiences. As per reports till 11 AM on the release day of the film, it has sold tickets worth only Rs 2.05 crore of which tickets worth Rs 55.97 lakh have come from organic sale- rest is from block booking and the film has been mounted on Rs 90 crore budget. The film is a rare phenomenon where it states that the film is releasing on 31st October but the makers are calling it a premiere with shows beginning from 6 PM. A talk doing the rounds in the corridors of Telugu Cinema states that when Mass Jathara announced its release date as 31st October, they didn’t expect SS Rajamouli, Prabhas and Rana Daggubati’s Bahubali-The Epic which had already announced the same date as their release to steal their thunder . So the makers decided to push the release by a few hours and turn it into premiere shows on the release day- premieres usually happen before the release. Bahubali- The Epic is a re-cut version of both Baahubali films put together into a 3 hour 45 minute saga, it has already caught the imagination of the masses and till 11 AM the film has earned more than Rs 1.72 crore from morning shows.. As per some reports the film has already crossed Rs 10 crore mark just with advance booking making it the highest ever collection for a re-released film. Some trade pundits are even expecting the film to mint over Rs 22 crore on day 1, making a spot for itself in the 10 biggest day 1 collection of 2025.Baahubali had opened the floodgates for films from south of India to be accepted in the whole country and its success has given films like Pushpa series, KGF franchise , RRR, Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire, Kalki 2898 AD and many more.
