Navya opens up about her bond with cousin Aaradhya

Navya Naveli Nanda opens up about her bond with cousin Aaradhya Bachchan, 'We have respect not only for each other but also for...'

Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda, who is currently pursuing the Blended Post Graduate Programme in Management (BPGP) at IIM Ahmedabad, recently spoke with warmth and pride about her family. She reflected on the strong values that bind them together and shared how each member, including her brother Agastya Nanda and her cousin Aaradhya Bachchan, daughter of Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, deeply respects one another’s choices.

‘We debate, but we never clash’

In a recent interview with Barkha Dutt for Mojo Story, Navya shared that she spends most of her time with her grandparents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, who continue to live together — something she finds rare in today’s times. She revealed that their home is often filled with discussions and debates on topics that matter, but despite the generational gap, mutual respect always prevails.Navya noted that even though their opinions may differ, they never clash because they share the same values that form the foundation of who she is. “Anyone who has seen my podcast would know that every episode involves a discussion or disagreement, but surprisingly, there’s never a clash,” she said, adding that their shared values define her personality. “It’s the values I was brought up with — and both sides of my family have instilled those very specific values in us.”

‘Respect lies at the heart of our family’

Navya went on to say that respect remains at the core of the Bachchan family’s bond. She mentioned that whether it’s her grandparents, her brother Agastya, or her cousin Aaradhya, everyone values each other deeply — not just as family, but for who they are and what they do.“The first thing we’ve grown up around is respect and family,” she shared. “Respect is at the heart of who we are — whether it’s my grandparents or the youngest in the family. We have respect not only for each other but also for what we do and where we come from.”

When Navya called Aaradhya ‘wise and aware’

During her past interview with ETimes, Navya was asked to give advice to her cousin Aaradhya. She had politely refused, explaining that she didn’t feel the need to guide her because Aaradhya was already wise beyond her years. Navya had said that today’s younger generation of girls are far more informed and self-assured, and she sees those very traits in her cousin. She also mentioned that rather than offering advice, she feels inspired by Aaradhya’s confidence and maturity, expressing that she looks forward to watching her cousin grow and achieve great things in life.
