Ray Lee, better known online as Ray Asian Boy, has quickly become one of the most talked-about streamers on the internet. The 22-year-old Taiwan-born content creator went from being a random face in a viral stream to a global name in just two years. His story began in Japan in 2023, when he accidentally met popular streamer Kai Cenat outside a 7-Eleven. That single moment changed his life forever. Since then, Ray has built millions of followers across TikTok, Twitch, and Instagram, all through charm, humor, and authenticity.

Before coming to Japan for a short visit in 2023, Ray Lee, real name Chen-Ruei Hsu, grew up in Taiwan. His life went suddenly in a different direction there. He saw Kai Cenat streaming live and decided to approach him at a 7-Eleven in Tokyo. Their amusing and impulsive talk went viral within hours. Ray’s genuine demeanor delighted fans, and he quickly started showing up in Kai’s streams and social media videos. Ray formally started his TikTok account in July 2023, where his relatable comedy and odd antics quickly earned him a follower favorite. He acquired over 4.4 million followers in a few months. He branched out early in 2024 to Twitch, where his broadcasts attracted almost 2.4 million viewers. But success did not come effortlessly. Ray went off social media for a long hiatus early in 2025; therefore, admirers speculated whether he had gone back to Taiwan for required military service.In March 2025, he came clean; he did not join the military but rather had a “mental vacation” to concentrate on his health. In October 2025, Ray made headlines again, this time outside streaming. He shared a video on Instagram wearing full Adidas Basketball gear, dribbling a ball before making a clean shot. The post quickly went viral after the official Adidas Basketball account commented, calling Ray “family.” Fans noticed that NBA star James Harden, who has a signature shoe line with Adidas, also left a fingers-crossed emoji, fueling talk of a possible brand collaboration.Ray hasn’t confirmed any deal yet, but his move into fashion signals a big shift in his career.
