The DMK-led alliance has announced an all-party meeting on November 2 to deliberate on the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.

The decision was taken during a key consultation chaired by DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai. The hour-long meeting, held between 6 pm and 7 pm, focused on the implications of SIR Phase 2 and the challenges involved in implementing the process during the ongoing monsoon season.

Leaders at the meeting agreed that a broader consultation with all political parties was necessary to discuss practical issues and coordinate strategies ahead of the revision drive.

Following the SIR presser, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over the Election Commission’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, accusing the BJP-led government of using the exercise to “seize the right to vote from common people and win through illicit means.”

In a post shared from the party’s official handle ‘DMK Arivalayam’ on X, the ruling party in Tamil Nadu alleged that the Central government, “through the Election Commission of India,” was using the SIR process to disenfranchise lakhs of voters. The post referred to Bihar, claiming that the voting rights of “over 65 lakh people” had been removed in the state through the same exercise.

DMK Vows To Safeguard Tamil Voters’ Rights

The post further stated that the SIR will now be implemented in Tamil Nadu, and that the DMK considered it its “major duty and responsibility” to protect the voting rights of Tamils. “To protect Tamil Nadu from the injustice called S.I.R. – and to ensure the party’s victory in every polling booth – a training meeting titled ‘My Polling Booth is a Winning Polling Booth’ will be held tomorrow (October 28, 2025) at 9:00 AM at the Confluence Hall on ECR Road, Mamallapuram,” the post said.

Stalin To Chair High-Level Party Meeting

The statement added that the meeting would be presided over by party president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. “The meeting, presided over by the party president and Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Thiru @mkstalin, will discuss how to carry out the necessary tasks, how to implement them, and how to coordinate and engage everyone, from the party leadership to the last-mile cadre, to execute them on the ground,” it read.

‘Let’s Protect The People’s Right To Vote’

In a call to action, the DMK post concluded with a rallying appeal to its supporters and the people of Tamil Nadu: “Let’s protect the people’s right to vote – let’s protect Tamil Nadu from autocracy!”

The statement comes ahead of a planned all-party meeting on November 2, to be convened by the DMK-led bloc to discuss the implications of the SIR and the party’s strategy to “safeguard democracy” in the state.
