Adivi Sesh has confirmed ‘Dacoit’, co-starring Mrunal Thakur, will have a festival release after missing its Christmas slot. An official announcement is imminent, with Sankranti 2026 being a strong possibility. The film, a romantic action-thriller, was delayed due to Sesh’s on-set injury. Anurag Kashyap also stars in this bilingual project.

Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur will be seen in the upcoming romance action drama ‘Dacoit’. The film was set to hit the big screens during Christmas however, it got delayed. Now, the lead actor shared an update regarding the film’s release.

Adivi Sesh announces release plans

Taking to his social media handle, Adivi Sesh on Monday confirmed that a festival release has been locked, with the official announcement arriving soon. He wrote, “We missed the Christmas release, but a festival release is fixed. Which festival? I will share tomorrow.” In his post, he shared a still from the film, which features him sitting inside a car, shooting a jeep in front till it catches fire. The picture also reveals that the makers plan to officially announce the release date tomorrow, that is on 28th October at 1:08 pm.

Sankranti 2026 release speculations

As the ‘HIT 2’ actor’s post suggests that the film will have a festive release, it is now speculated that there will be another Sankranti 2026 release in the coming. However, given the crowded release lineup during Sankranti, it is also believed ‘Dacoit’ might opt for a different festival to ensure a strong theatrical run.As per a Gulte report, the release was postponed due to an on-set injury sustained by Adivi Sesh while filming an intense action sequence. The injury led to a halt in production, making it impossible to meet the original Christmas 2025 release date.

About ‘Dacoit’

Directed by Shaneil Deo, the film will be a romantic action-thriller that shows Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur in intense and action-oriented roles. Adivi Sesh plays a character driven by love and vengeance, while Mrunal Thakur portrays Juliet, who seems to have a haunting past. Interestingly, the film also features Anurag Kashyap making his Telugu debut as a fierce police officer.It will include music by Bheems Ceciroleo.The film will release simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, with dubbed versions in other regional languages.
