Navya Nanda on joining Rs 40,000 crore family business

Amitabh Bachchan’s granddaughter Navya Nanda on REFUSING Bollywood and joining Rs 40,000 crore family business: ‘I have assembled a tractor’

Navya Naveli Nanda belongs to two extraordinary worlds, the glamour of Bollywood and the strength of business. On her maternal side, she is the granddaughter of legendary actors Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. On her father’s side, she is part of the well-known Nanda family, known for their business in the agriculture equipment sector. While her family name links her to fame and films, Navya has chosen a completely different journey. Instead of stepping into Bollywood, she is known for her work as an entrepreneur and social advocate, actively involved in non-profit initiatives.

Navya Nanda explains why she refused Bollywood

Despite being connected to showbiz, Navya made it clear that she never wanted to join the film industry. Speaking on Mojo Story, she said, “I never wanted to restrict myself to one profession that I am an entrepreneur, and I will only do that. I love trying new things. I also feel I learn a lot when I dabble in different things from assembling tractor to walking the ramp in Paris, I never wanted to be boxed into a category that this is what she is. I want to be able to do everything right now.”

Navya Nanda shares memories of growing up with tractors

Navya revealed that her love for the business began during her childhood. While many star kids spent time on film sets, she grew up around tractors and machinery.“I’ve grown up in Delhi, and I have grown up around tractors. I have assembled one on the shop floor from start to finish. I have grown up around it so that’s all I knew and all I saw as a kid. So for me it is still the coolest thing ever. I get so excited by tractors that my friends make fun of me. I really geek out on tractors,” she said. She added, “My father, bua, dada, dadi spoke about tractors with so much excitement that for me as a young girl, it was never in my mind that something young girls are not interested in.”

Navya Nanda aims to carry forward her legacy

Navya said she wants to take the family business forward in her own way. She shared, “I want to carry on this great legacy forward in my own capacity. I trained in the factory for 3–3.5 years before even entering the corporate office and I think that’s how it should be starting from the scratch. I think one should start from scratch.”She also added, “I am still making my way up, have a long way to go. I am not at the helm of anything at present. It’s not just me but the work, effort and delegation of so many people that carried forward the vision of my great-grandfather.”

Navya Nanda holds stake in the company

According to a September 2024 report by The Economic Times, Navya is also a stakeholder in her family’s company, Escorts Kubota. She owns a 0.02% stake in the company, which is valued at around Rs 7 crore. The overall value of the firm stands at approximately Rs 40,000 crore. She is also pursuing a business degree at IIM Ahmedabad, which shows that she is committed to learning and preparing herself for future responsibilities. Go to Source
