Saiyaara becomes the 3rd biggest Indian hit at North American box office of 2025

Mohit Suri, Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda’s 'Saiyaara' becomes the 3rd biggest Indian hit at North American box office of 2025

Mohit Suri’s ‘Saiyaara’ has emerged as a massive box office triumph, becoming the year’s second-biggest Hindi hit and a top-tier all-time performer. Its success extended globally, dominating North American markets. While ‘Coolie’ led in gross earnings there, ‘Saiyaara’ and ‘Chhaava’ proved more profitable for distributors, highlighting a trend of successful smaller films and challenges for those with inflated release costs.

One of the biggest box office successes of 2025 has to be Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film not only went on to become the biggest love story in terms of box office collection- it is the second biggest Hindi hit of the year and 14th biggest Hindi hit of all times with a collection of Rs 329 crore. The success of the film was not just limited just to India, the film in North America which is considered to be the biggest market for Hindi films outside of India had also set the box office on fire. In its entire theatrical run the film went on to mint USD 6.22 million ( Rs 54.76 crore) and is currently the biggest Indian hit of the year in the circuit. It very narrowly missed the second spot which is held by Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhaava which minted USD 6.41 million (Rs 56.44 crore) – the difference between the two films was just USD 190,000. The highest minting Indian film of the year in North America is Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie with a lifetime collection of USD 6.95 million ( Rs 61.19 crore). But the film failed to turn profit for the distributors as the breakeven was pegged as USD 7.5 million when compared to Saiyaara or Chhaava- both of them were profitable for everyone involved in the ecosystem. This year many Indian films have not been able to cross profit line as either they were outright rejected by the audience or they were sold for exceptionally high prices which led to failure by recovery despite being appreciated by the audience the prime example of these would be Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG and Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1 . And on the other hand there were those few small films which were sold at realistic prices and managed to do wonders as the box office few examples of these are Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah: Chapter 1: Chandra, Mahavatar Narsimha and Teja Sajja’s Mirai.
