IMD issues red alert

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Thane, Palghar and neighbouring districts. Officials warned of “intense to very intense convection” over the city and predicted moderate to heavy downpours in the coming hours.“Mumbai Radar shows intense to very intense convection over the city and adjoining area. It is likely to continue for the next 2–3 hours,” the IMD said in a post on X.Continuous rainfall on Saturday triggered waterlogging at several locations, including Gandhi Nagar, Kings Circle and Sion railway station, disrupting road traffic and slowing train services. Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani directed all civic officials across wards to remain on duty and ensure emergency measures were in place to tackle the impact of the downpour. Go to Source
