Kantara 2 fails to beats Chhaava as the highest 4th weekend collection

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ fails to go past Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhava’s 4th weekend collection

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’ continues to climb the box office ranks, grossing an impressive Rs 589.20 crore. It’s tantalizingly close to overtaking Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhava,’ which leads by a mere Rs 12 crore. While ‘Kantara 2’ had a promising start, it’s struggled to maintain the momentum needed to keep pace with ‘Chhava’ in recent weeks.

At the end of 25 days Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1’s total collection stands at Rs 589.20 crore and is the second biggest hit of the year, following only Vicky Kaushal and Laxman Utekar’s Chhava . The biopic on Chhatrapati Sambhaji maharaj had minted Rs 601.54 crore and Kantara 2 would now need a little more than Rs 12 crore to reach the top spot. While Kantara 2 is all set to win the war on the back of a stellar week 1 collection of Rs 337.4 crore but second week onwards it is Vicky Kaushal led film which has been dominating the record books. Kantar 2 was unable to go past Chhava’s 2nd weekend, 2nd week, 3rd weekend, 3rd week collection and now it has failed to go past even in’s 4th weekend collection. During its fourth weekend Chhava was able to mint Rs 8.75 crore on Friday while it saw a near 95 % jump on Saturday to collect Rs 16.75 crore and Sunday the collection dipped to Rs 10.75- thereby taking the 4th weekend collection to Rs 36.25 crore. In comparison Kantara 2 earned Rs 6.10 crore on 4th Friday, Rs 9 crore on 4th Saturday and Rs 10 crore on 4th Sunday- taking the 4th weekend collection of the film to Rs 25.10 crore – a clear lead of Rs 11.15 crore for Chhava. It is now only a matter of time for Kantara 2 to go past Chhava’s lifetime collection and become the biggest hit of 2025. Post that it would be interesting to see how far the film would go as far as record books are concerned, it has already survived Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna’s Thamma and also doesn’t look much worried about SS Rajamoui and Prabhas’s Baahubali- The Epic releasing next week.
