NEW DELHI: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, addressing a rally in Patna, announced a series of welfare measures for Bihar’s Panchayati Raj representatives, should the INDIA bloc come to power in the upcoming elections.Tejashwi promised a substantial increase in per-quintal margin money for PDS distributors, along with pension schemes and a Rs 50 lakh insurance cover for Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives. “The INDIA bloc, if voted to power, will double allowances of representatives of Bihar’s Panchayati Raj system,” he said.
Speaking at the rally, Yadav sought to draw a contrast with the BJP’s two-decade rule in the state. “People of Bihar gave them 20 years; we are only asking for 20 months. I have full faith in the people that this time there will be a change and the government will also change. Mahagathbandhan together will work to make a new Bihar,” he said.He added that under a future INDIA bloc government, “The process of giving pension amounts to former Panchayat and Gram Kachari representatives will be started.” Talking about further initiatives, he assured, “Substantial increase in per-quintal margin money of PDS distributors in Bihar if INDIA bloc comes to power.” “”The campaign has begun, and Bihar is impatient for change. Wherever we are going, people in large numbers from all castes and religions are coming to support us. People are fed up with the current government and want to change the Bihar government,” also said Yadav, who has been named as the Chief Ministerial candidate by the opposition grand alliance.
