Sandhya rants on not finding work amid social media obsession

‘Agar followers nahi honge to kaam nahi milega,’ Sandhya Mridul rants on not finding work amid social media obsession

Sandhya Mridul, an actress who has worked in both films and television, took to her social media handle to share a video, highlighting the industry’s fixation on follower count. The actress known for her work in ‘Saathiya,’ ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd,’ and more mentioned how she is finding it difficult to find work because she doesn’t have many followers on social media. She highlighted the vicious circle, where she said if she doesn’t have work, how is she supposed to get famous, and if she isn’t famous, how will she get followers.

Sandhya Mridul rants on the industry’s fixation on online clout

“Ek naya situation hai bhai, k agar followers nahi honge to kaam nahi milega. Bhai agar kaam nahi doge, to admi famous kese hoga, agar famous nahi hoga to followers kese milenge, followers nahi milenge, to famous kese hoga to kaam kese milega, samajh rahe hai na ap. Badi asmanjas vali bat hai ye. (There’s a new situation that if you don’t have followers, you would not get work. But if you don’t give me work, how will I get famous? If I were not famous, how would I get followers? If I did not have followers, how would I get famous, and then how would I get work? You are understanding, right?”Not only this, she said the work that she already had, she lost that as well because she doesn’t have many followers. On top of that, her manager cited her ‘rick look’ as another reason. “Upar se manager keh rhi hai, ma’am vo kaam apke hath se nikal gya kyuki ek to apke followers kam the, or apki na look rich hai. Bhai look rich hai, me nahi. Kyuki kaam nahi doge, to followers nahi milenge, followers nahi milenge, to famous nahi hoge, famous nahi hoga to kaam nahi milega to paisa nahi milega.. to meri look hi rich rhegi fir me nahi.. kindly help (My manager told me the work I did, I lost that because one I don’t have followers and second my look is rich. But it is only looks that are rich, not me. Because if you don’t give me work, I will not have followers, when I will not have followers, then I will not be famous, if I will not be famous, then I will not have work, and will not have money, so only my look will be rich, I would not be. Kindly help,)” she concluded.

When Saqib Saleem said social media following doesn’t translate into good acting

Earlier this year, in an exclusive interview with us, Saqib Saleem also spoke about the trend where people were being cast in projects based on their social media following. He highlighted that a strong social media following doesn’t mean the person is a good actor.”So, suddenly, lines are blurred. Now you want to cast someone because they have a specific number of followers. That doesn’t necessarily mean they are good actors. They have been cast for followers. But good actors are sometimes not cast because they don’t have that many followers. I’m not saying good actors cannot be influencers and vice versa. Not every actor can be an influencer, and not every influencer can be an actor,” he mentioned. Go to Source
