Remembering the legacy of the legendary folk singer Sharda Sinha, the prime minister in his Begusarai address. He spoke about how the Padma Bhushan singer and how she would always be remembered through her songs. “When it comes to worshipping Chhathi Maiya, it’s natural to remember Sharda Sinha. She was the daughter-in-law of Begusarai. We honored her first with the Padma Bhushan and then this year with the Padma Vibhushan. She is no longer with us, but her songs will always be remembered,” said the PM Modi. While Chhath Puja has its roots in Bihar, its observance extends to Jharkhand, eastern Uttar Pradesh, and diaspora communities.
