Ayushmann Khurrana’s vampire horror-comedy, ‘Thamma,’ has achieved remarkable success, crossing Rs 55 crore in just three days. The film’s strong opening and sustained performance have propelled it past Kajol’s ‘Maa’ and are now nearing Varun Dhawan’s ‘Bhediya’ box office figures. Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui expressed gratitude for the audience’s appreciation of his role.

Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui starrer, Thamma has struck gold. The vampire horror-comedy has crossed Rs 50 crore in just three days after a strong start.

Day-wise box office breakdown

According to a report in Sacnilk, Thamma earned Rs 24 crore on its opening day and maintained its momentum on day 2 as well by collecting Rs 18.6 crore at the box office. Now, on its day 3, the film saw a slight dip in collections, earning Rs 12.50 crore. The total collection of the film now stands at Rs 55.10 crore.

Beats Kajol’s Maa and inches closer to Bhediya

The film has already beaten the lifetime earnings of Kajol’s Maa, which made Rs 36.08 crore in India and Rs 49.75 crore worldwide. Released alongside Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat starring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, Ayushmann Khurrana’s Thamma is clearly dominating the box office race.Besides this, Thamma is now close to overtaking Varun Dhawan’s Bhediya, which earned Rs 68.99 crore at the Indian box office.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui on audience appreciation

In an interview with IANS, Nawazuddin Siddiqui thanked everyone for pouring love on his role and said, “Main bahut grateful hoon ki log ‘Thamma’ mein mera character Yakshasan ko itna pasand kar rahe hain (I am very grateful that people are liking my character Yakshasan in ‘Thamma’ so much).”The actor further shared, “Honestly, main bas apna kaam karta hoon… aur jab audience appreciate karti hai, toh bahut khushi hoti hai. Yeh support mujhe aur mehnat karne ki inspiration deta hai, aur main har role mein apna best dena chahta hoon (To be honest, I just do my work… and when the viewers appreciate the same, it brings me immense joy. This kind of support inspires me to work even harder, and I want to give my best in every role).”In the same interview, while talking about working on the film, Nawazuddin Siddiqui shared, “Is safar mein, main dil se thanks kehna chahta hoon director Aditya Sarpotdar ji ka (In this journey, I want to sincerely thank director Aditya Sarpotdar).”
