When Meryl Streep misunderstood the slang ‘GOAT’

Jennifer Lawrence knows how to make the audience crackle, but Meryl Streep’s naive response stole the show. While the actresses are known to have a fun banter and play through the media, the 35-year-old star chronicled a story where ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ actress completely misunderstood the meaning of ‘GOAT!’

When Meryl Streep was confused with GOAT and goat

For the unversed, the acronym ‘GOAT’ stands for ‘Greatest Of All Time,’ which certainly gets associated with the prominent members of a particular field, unlike ‘goat,’ which simply refers to an animal. During the promotions of the film in which Lawrence and Streep acted together, ‘Don’t Look Up,’ the former actress spoke about a humorous incident involving the latter. In conversation with Stephen Colbert on The Late Show, Jennifer said, “We were doing a photoshoot and I said something like ‘GOAT,’ and Meryl said, ‘That’s right, just tell the old goat where to go.” Perplexed with the response, she questioned Streep whether she knew GOAT meant Greatest Of All Time. The 75-year-old actress was a bit aback and claimed she did not! “And we were like, ‘Well, we haven’t just been calling you goat,’” Lawrence narrated, prompting laughter from the audience.

About ‘Don’t Look Up’

As for ‘Don’t Look Up,’ the sci-fi film was well-received and loved by the audience, claiming it as revolutionary. Directed by Adam McKay, the other cast members of the 2021 film include Leonardo DiCaprio, Cate Blanchett, Timothee Chalamet, Jonah Hill, a special appearance by Ariana Grande, and many more. Giving a sarcastical nod, the film revolves around the extreme decay and corruption in the political structure, where the two professionals try to warn the world about the dangerous comet that is bound to destroy the planet. As for their current individual projects, Streep is set to return as Miranda Priestly in ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2,’ and Lawrence has ‘Die, My Love,’ in the soon-to-be-released list. Go to Source
