‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’ box office collection day 2

'Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat' box office collection day 2: The Harshvardhan Rane film to emerge a hit, nears Rs 20 crore, despite competition from 'Thamma'

Harshvardhan Rane best known for his film ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ was back to theatres this Diwali with ‘Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat’. The film which stars Sonam Bajwa with him, clashed with Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna’s ‘Thamma’ and yet is holding quite well. The film has been doing well at the box office, better than many movies that released this year and can also be expected to grow with positive word of mouth. The first day collection of the film was around Rs 9 crore which is in the range of ‘Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari’. This number is quite good considering the fact that most screens are dominated by ‘Thamma’. This is also a great number considering the fact that the budget of ‘Ek Deewane…’ would be quite less compared to ‘Sunny Sanskari…’. After making around Rs 9 crore on first day, which is Tuesday, the film saw a drop on day 2. It made Rs 7.50 crore on second day. The total collection now stands at Rs 16.50 crore according to Sacnilk. The film could have gotten even higher number if ‘Thamma’ was not dominating the screen space as it’s getting three times more shows than ‘Ek Deewaniyat…’ according to Box Office India. ‘Ek Deewana Ki Deewaniyat’ is well on its way to becoming a hit, after showing an impressive hold on its second day at the box office. The film has seen a drop of around 15% or even less, which is an excellent trend following a major national holiday. What’s particularly striking is the strong performance in circuits like East Punjab and West Bengal, regions that typically don’t yield such robust numbers for a film of this scale and star cast. While the Diwali advantage has certainly boosted collections, the film’s momentum suggests that the success goes beyond just festive goodwill, especially since several releases in the past have stumbled despite the same holiday push. It clearly would have done even better if it got more screens, at least as much as ‘Thamma’. With word of mouth, it may possibly see a growth over the weekend. With this, the film may become Rane’s highest OG grosser as ‘Sanam Teri Kasam’ did not make this number during its initial release in theatres. It was only when it re-released and it earned more than Rs 40 crore that time. Day wise collection of the film: Day 1 [1st Tuesday] ₹ 9 Cr -Day 2 [1st Wednesday] ₹ 7.50 Cr * early estimates -Total ₹ 16.50 Cr
