'Only words': NDA slams Tejashwi Yadav over promises to Jeevika Didis; says his family 'looted' Bihar

Bihar deputy CM Samrat Choudhar, left, and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav

NEW DELHI: The BJP-JDU-led NDA allies in Bihar on Wednesday strongly criticised the promises made by RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav to Jeevika Didis — vowing to make them permanent government employees with a monthly salary of Rs 30,000.Earlier, during a press conference, Tejashwi Yadav also took a dig at the double-engine government for providing Rs 10,000 under the Mai Bahin Maan Yojana as the assembly elections approach, calling it a “bribe.” He also stated that Jeevika Didis would receive an additional allowance of Rs 2,000 and insurance coverage of Rs 5 lakh for all their cadres.Reacting to his remarks, Bihar deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said, “His mother and father looted the people of Bihar for 15 years. They couldn’t provide govt jobs to 1 lakh people when in power…The entire Bihar knows that these people only show dreams, and that they are known only to loot Bihar.”Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tarkishore Prasad said, “The people of Bihar have decided to ensure that the RJD and the mahagathbandhan, which we also call ‘thagbandhan’, do not come to power… His announcements are not going to impact the people or the elections in Bihar…” BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi slammed Yadav’s promise of 10 lakh jobs in Bihar, calling it a misleading offer that could cost citizens their homes.”Tejashwi ji should stop joking with the people of Bihar… After Nitish Kumar’s government came to power in Bihar, many schemes for women’s empowerment have been running in the state. Govt schemes from Har Ghar Sauchalaya, to Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, to Mudhra Yojaya, Lakhpati Didi and Drone Didi are evidence of our thinking of 10 years… For women empowerment, NDA and Nitish ji have a methodical, consistent and pragmatic approach… Tejashwi ji said he will give 10 lakh jobs, but its actual meaning is that they will give a job for (Rs) 10 lakhs. It means now they will take house and property for a job, like earlier they took land for a job,” Trivedi said, as quoted by ANI.Senior JDU leader KC Tyagi said Tejashwi Yadav’s promises lacked substance. “All the promises and announcements that Tejashwi Yadav is making, the Bihar government has already fulfilled all those promises. Whether it’s about women’s reservation, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, or education,” Tyagi said.Tejashwi Yadav also said that people in Bihar were “fed up” with the Nitish Kumar-led double-engine government, pointing to corruption, migration, unemployment and rising crime, and claimed that voters had already decided in favour of change.BJP leader Ajay Alok also launched a sharp attack on Tejashwi Yadav. “The most corrupt person, who is out on bail in a corruption case, is saying that corruption has happened?… Infighting is going on in the grand alliance, shoes are flying, and now their (Tejashwi Yadav’s) sleep has broken that they want to change Bihar… In 15 years of Lalu-Rabri’s rule, Bihar hadn’t even heard the ‘J’ of Jivika, and today he (Tejashwi Yadav) remembers Jivika… RJD’s Jivika is loot, murder, illegal liquor, and sand business… And it’s true that there will be change… This time they (RJD) won’t even get 21 seats that they got last time.”The 2025 Bihar elections will feature a battle between the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the Mahagathbandhan. The NDA includes the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and Rashtriya Lok Morcha. The Mahagathbandhan, led by the RJD, consists of the Congress, CPI-ML (Deepankar Bhattacharya), CPI, CPM and Mukesh Sahani’s Vikasheel Insaan Party (VIP).
