Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Friday called on US President Donald Trump to push for an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine during his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.
“It is time to end the war, and the necessary steps must be taken by Russia. We are counting on America,” Zelenskyy said in a social media post, urging Trump to convince Moscow to stop the war.

“We are ready, as always, to work as productively as possible,” he added.
The comments came just hours before Trump and Putin were expected to meet in Anchorage for a high-risk summit seen as a potential turning point in the war, now in its fourth year.
Zelenskyy also said he expects a report from Ukrainian intelligence on Russia’s current plans and any preparations it is making ahead of the meeting.
“Indeed, high stakes,” Zelensky added, calling for the summit to pave the way for a “real path toward a just peace” and support a future “substantive discussion between leaders in a trilateral format – Ukraine, the United States, and the Russian side.”
The Alaska summit is the first face-to-face meeting between Trump and Putin since 2021 and marks Putin’s first visit to the West since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
