Cincinnati balcony collapse: 20 injured in fall from 3rd floor, what we know so far

A balcony collapsed on Friday evening at a third-floor building near the University of Cincinnati, US resulting in twenty people being injured, at least 10 being hospitalised with one critically injured, according to officials, quoted by Mirror US.Captain Stephen Bower of the Cincinnati Police Department stated at a news conference that five individuals sustained serious injuries, while four others had minor injuries. Details have not been provided on others. He noted that the building was predominantly occupied by students.”They had a big exam today and they were celebrating,” he said. Cincinnati fire chief Frank McKinley informed WKRC-TV that authorities are conducting an investigation into the balcony collapse.About 11 emergency medical service units were dispatched, according to the Greater Cincinnati Police and Fire Chaplain Services. First responders treated victims at the scene and transported the injured to nearby hospitals, according to Mirror US.The cause of the collapse remains under investigation, and no casualties have been reported as of 11 pm local time.
