'We'll deport you': New York Governor slammed for her Pakistan Independence Day wish

New York Governor Kathy Hochul was slammed for her Pakistan Independence Day wish on August 14.

Social media users slammed New York Guv Kathy Hochul and called for her deportation to Pakistan after she extended her wish to New York’s Pakistani community on Pakistan’s Independence Day. “On Pakistan Independence Day, we’re proud to join New York’s Pakistani community as they celebrate freedom, heritage, and community,” Hochul’s message read. The comment section exploded into hate comments as social media users said Pakistanis should go back home and celebrate in Pakistan. “Does Pakistan celebrate the 4th of July? Asking for a friend,” one wrote. “You’ll virtue signal for political points with Pakistan’s independence, but you won’t even fight for the independence of Black families from generational poverty and government dependency in your own state. That tells us everything we need to know about where we stand on your priority list,” another user wrote. “Did you celebrate our Independence Day? Americans that is, the country you live in and took an oath to support and be loyal to and its legal citizens? 4th of July?” one X account wrote. “We’ll deport you to Pakistan alongside them, traitor,” another wrote. “They’re .29% of NYers. I’m really sure u can just leave them alone and let them do their thing without being this cringey and awkward and still probably get that vote somehow,” one user wrote. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio wished Pakistan Thursday on its Independence Day and expressed appreciation for “Pakistan’s engagement on counterterrorism and trade”. “On behalf of the United States, I extend our warm congratulations to the people of Pakistan as they celebrate their Independence Day on August 14,” Rubio said in a statement.“The United States deeply appreciates Pakistan’s engagement on counterterrorism and trade. We look forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons, and fostering dynamic business partnerships which will promote a prosperous future for Americans and Pakistanis,” Rubio said.
