‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ OTT release: When, where you can watch

'Kantara: Chapter 1' OTT release: Here's when and where you can watch the Rishab Shetty film after its theatrical run

Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ continues its phenomenal run at the global box office, grossing over ₹670 crore and shattering records for regional cinema. At the domestic box office, the film has crossed Rs 490 crore and is expected to cross the Rs 500 crore mark by the end of its third Friday, October 18. It has another good weekend before the release of ‘Thamma’ to get more numbers but post Diwali, it may lose steam and face competition from the new release, more so if there’s positive word of mouth for it. Even as ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ is drawing large crowds to theatres, speculation is rife about its digital release. According to early reports, the film is expected to stream on Amazon Prime Video and will be available in multiple Indian languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Industry insiders suggest that the Hindi-dubbed version may arrive around eight weeks after its theatrical debut, although the streaming platform has yet to make an official announcement.Usually, the window between theatrical and OTT release is expected to be between six-eight weeks and the release date for ‘Kantara’ digitally, is reportedly October 30, 2025. This window is lesser and considering its huge success at the box office, the OTT release date may even be pushed further so that it gets more space to perform in theatres. Fans don’t seem to mind the wait, as ‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ continues to dominate theatres with strong word-of-mouth and repeat audiences. The film serves as an origin story that explores themes of identity, faith, and resistance against injustice. Set against the mystical folklore of coastal Karnataka, it blends intense action, powerful emotions, and visually stunning sequences to deliver an unforgettable cinematic experience.
