Kantara Chapter 1 box office day 16: Rishab Shetty film slows down before Diwali, still short of Rs 500 crore

Rishab Shetty’s period folk film, Kantara Chapter 1, is nearing the ₹500 crore mark in India despite a slight dip in Friday collections. The movie has already shattered records, becoming the second-highest-grossing Kannada film and the top Kannada film of 2025. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Kantara Chapter 1 has earned Rs 8.50 crore on Friday. Early estimates indicate that the 16-day total for the movie is currently at Rs 493.75 crore.

Occupancy by language on Friday

The report further stated that it had an overall 23.51 percent Kannada, 17.06 percent Telugu, 9.13 percent Hindi, 28.09 percent Tamil and 15.39 percent Malayalam Occupancy on Friday, October 17, 2025.

The prequel to the 2022 blockbuster, Kantara Chapter 1, has shattered several box office records in just 15 days. It has become the second-highest-grossing Kannada film ever, the top-grossing Kannada film of 2025, and also ranks among the highest-earning Indian films of all time.On Thursday, October 16, Kantara Chapter 1 wrapped up its second week at the box office with a total collection of Rs 147.85 crore.
