‘Thinking about moving to Canada?’: IRCC’s new ad angers Canadians; people call it ‘beyond parody’

'Thinking about moving to Canada?': IRCC's new ad angers Canadians; people call it 'beyond parody'

IRCC put out a social media post advertising Canada’s free healthcare.

A new social media post by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada has come under fire as Canadians strongly object to the words of the advertisement making Canada look like a ‘walk-in’ clinic. “Thinking about moving to Canada? Did you know Canada has public health care? Learn how it works, who can get it and what services are covered,” the post said. The post went viral as Canadians strongly objected to the open invitation by the IRCC and pointed out that more than 74,000 Canadians died on health care waitlists since 2018. People recounted how they lost a friend or a family member because of the highly strained public health system.Conservative politician Melissa Lantsman said while Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government is advertising free health care, the reality is that Canadians can’t seee a doctor and ERs are closing. “Read the room, folks. Carney’s government is advertising “free health care” to the world while 6.5 million Canadians can’t see a doctor. ERs are closing, patients are dying, and Liberal Ottawa’s answer is to brag about a broken system. Compassion without capacity is chaos,” Melissa wrote.”That the current government would tweet this out while our hospitals are overcrowded and people can’t get a family doctor tells you exactly what’s going on in Ottawa,” Conservative leader Jamil Jeevani wrote. “We are not a goddamn walk-in clinic for the whole world!!!!! citizens can barely get Services across this country and you’re promoting people moving here when we can barely support our citizens and their own healthcare needs that they pay tax dollars for,” one wrote. “Canada should be shutting down its immigration system until we can get rid of all the fake refugees/asylum seekers and temporary workers that have stayed past their due date,” another wrote. “This is beyond parody,” a third user wrote. “Hospitals are closing, family doctors are scarce, and patients are dying on waitlists — yet the Liberal government is advertising free healthcare for the world. This chaos must end now!” one comment read. IRCC did not react to the massive trolling but added another post claiming that 234,315 fewer new students and temporary workers arrived in Canada this year (January to July) compared to last year.
