As the buzz around ‘Thamma’ intensifies, Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are at the forefront of its marketing campaign. Khurrana confidently asserts that their vampire-themed comedy outshines the popular Malayalam film ‘Lokah’, highlighting its potential to resonate across Hindi-speaking audiences.

Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna are currently on a promotional spree for their upcoming film ‘Thamma’. And during a recent interview, the actors addressed the comparisons between their movie and the Dulquer Salmaan-backed ‘Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra’, starring Kalyani Priyadarshan. During the candid chat, Khurrana stated that their vampire drama is “massier” than the Malayalam film.

Ayushmann Khurrana says ‘Thamma’ is massier than ‘Lokah’

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Ayushmann Khurrana shared, “We are high on comedy.” The actor stated that though he enjoyed ‘Lokah’, he couldn’t watch it in Allahabad, where it had not been released. He added, “So ours is a more massy film because it penetrates down to the Hindi-speaking markets also.” Ayushmann went on to say, “‘Lokah’ could be a good induction for certain multiplex audiences towards this thing, but we have a different genesis, different situations, and it’s a different story.”Khurrana expressed that there are “hardly any similarities.”

Rashmika Mandanna on comparisons between ‘Thamma’ and ‘Lokah’

In the same interview, Rashmika Mandanna stated that she has watched the Malayalam superhero blockbuster and is also friends with its lead star, Kalyani Priyadarshan. She said, “Having DQ (Dulquer Salmaan) and Thomas (Tovino) and Kalyani just doing their thing, it was a different world altogether.”Showcasing the confidence in her upcoming film, the actress shared that she knows what’s in store for the audience. She said, “It’s going to be a different experience. You can’t put both the films together.”Mandanna expressed that she understands the comparisons are stemming from what basis, but according to her, “When you walk out of Thamma, it’s going to be a new conversation.”
