Bollywood’s landscape for decades has been blessed with actors who, though today are not among us, have left a legacy that has and will go on to inspire millions. Each of these stars had their own trade secrets, tricks, and tips, which they never revealed in open. However, recently, the son of one such legendary star revealed the secret to his father’s natural acting!

THIS actor rehearsed his dialogues in Punjabi to ace natural acting

This is the tale of an actor who rose to fame in the 50s. In an era where Hindi movies and actors were often criticized for ‘stilted’ dialogues, this artist found the key to breaking through. “You see, he had a secret that nobody knew about except me. The dialogues in Hindi films were very stilted. Do you remember those days? He used to take the dialogues, rewrite them in Punjabi in Gurmukhi, and then rehearse them in Gurmukhi,” revealed his son in an interaction with ANI.Punjabi, being his comfort language, gave him more confidence, and then he used to put in efforts to translate and speak it naturally in Hindi. “After that, he would speak to them in Hindi as naturally as he could. And that’s why everybody said that he didn’t use the bombastic style that was very prevalent at that time,” added his son, who himself is an actor.

The advice of the actor that changed his son’s life

While speaking to the same portal, the son also shared a piece of advice his father gave him, which he to date lives by. His father told him, ‘Don’t act, but believe.’ “He said, ‘Don’t act. But believe.’ His greatest belief, his greatest strength, was that he didn’t act; he believed. People always watched him and said that he was a very natural actor. He looked so natural on the screen because he didn’t act. He said, ‘Believe in what you’re doing.’ And that was the best tip I ever got,” mentioned the son of the ’50s star.

Who is this veteran star?

The actor we are talking about is Balraj Sahni, and his son, who made the big revelation, is Parikshit Sahni. Born on May 1, 1913, in Rawalpindi, Balraj got his name etched not just in the books of Bollywood but hearts of cinephiles. His work in movies like ‘Do Bigha Zameen’, ‘Kabuliwala’, ‘Waqt’, and more to date is considered a masterclass for acting. The highly talented star left us on April 13, 1973, at the age of 59.Speaking about his son, Parikshit Sahni, he followed in his father’s footsteps. He initially worked with Raj Kapoor as an assistant on ‘Mera Naam Joker.’ He is highly loved for his work in ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai,’ ‘3 Idiots,’ ‘PK,’ and more. Go to Source
